HOW INTERCHANGE WORKS

Clients meet individually and confidentially with Interchange advisers, typically every six or seven weeks, for a Minimalist InterventionTM design session of as short as three hours, to work on a business challenge that the client brings for consideration.

Interchange advisers provide the proprietary intellectual capital of the Minimalist InterventionTM methodology—half of the know-how required for minimalist intervention design—while our clients provide the other half: their company and industry expertise, strategic knowledge, and in-depth understanding of their organization.

Clients often describe their work with Interchange as a means of clarifying, leveraging, and amplifying their own thinking.

Interchange advisers guide clients through the interventions by relentlessly posing questions to the client.

These simple questions, unique to every session, are carefully sequenced to separate the essentials from the nice-to-haves, identify unnecessary abstractions, and expose unhelpful assumptions.

This detailed analysis strips away the complexities to reveal, in each case, a rich field of latent possibilities and otherwise invisible new options. The final analysis reveals the smallest set of specific, easy, concrete actions that the client is certain will flip the current situation into the desired situation in the shortest time possible, at the lowest cost, and with the least risk… even in such notoriously delicate areas as corporate culture.

This process has proven that major change can be achieved in far less time, with greater precision, at much lower cost, with less resistance, and with far less financial risk than conventional wisdom currently supposes.

Dr. James Wilk, PhD

Was it possible (in theory or even more importantly, in practice)—and if so, how—to pinpoint in advance, the smallest intervention into any system that would trigger a flip from the existing state of the system to any other possible state of the system; most intriguingly of all, from some existing state-of-affairs to the desired state-of-affairs?
